ATV rider dies of injuries sustained in Bruton Branch crash, driver charged

APRIL 29-- A Mississippi man died Friday of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle all-terrain vehicle crash in Hardin County on the night of April 23, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said this morning.

According to the THP, Dallas Ray Cossey, 23, of Southhaven, was fatally injured when the ATV in which he was a passenger went off the side of Pompeys Branch Road on a curve and hit a large tree in the vicinity of Bruton Branch.

 The driver of the 2016 Honda Pioneer side-by-side ATV, Carl L. Harrell IV, 26, of Olive Branch, Mississippi is currently facing charges of DUI and vehicular assault. Additional charges may be filed in light of Cossey’s death, the THP said.

Harrell and a second passenger, Taylor M. Hite, 23, both had minor injuries.
