James Young

James Hubert Young, 97, of Hardin County, died Sunday, Dec. 27.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Richard Alexander and Eliza Alice Scott Young. He was united in marriage to Ledia Jewel Morton, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Young was a member of the Hardin County Senior Citizens and Campground United Methodist Church, where he was song leader for many years, church superintendent, and Bible teacher. He received a plaque for oldest member of the church.

Services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Campground United Methodist Church in Savannah with David Kingsley, Don Lee officiating. Burial was in the Campground Cemetery at Savannah.

He is survived by a daughter, Nila Franks of Columbia, Tenn.; three sons, Ernest and David Ancil Young, both of Savannah, and Aaron Young of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Seleta McCall; a son, Seamon Rayford Young; two sisters, Marie Godwin and Mazie Godwin; five brothers, Archie, L.V., Dalton, Ruben Young, and an infant brother.
