Kenneth C. Layton, 76, of Counce, died on Saturday, Feb. 25.
He was born in Counce, the son of the late Charles William and Annie Ruth Byrd Layton.
Mr. Layton received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Tech, where he was a member of Epsilon Sigma. He went on to be a project engineer for TRP and Paper Company from 1961-1963 and 1965-1968 and a chemical engineer for Kimberly Clark for 31 years. He attended Counce First United Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Vanessa Schneider of Huntington Beach, California, Beverly Marie Turriff of Sherwood, Wisconsin, Kenneth Steve Layton of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Johnny Keith Layton of Corona, California, and Thomas Joseph Layton of Bartlett, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda McGivern of Demopolis, Alabama and Carolyn Horton of Corinth, Mississippi; brother, Larry Van Layton of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and mother of his children, Beverly Susan Layton of Bartlett, Tennessee.
Services were held on Thursday, March 2, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Glenn R. Miller officiating.
