Max Stewart, 79, of Stantonville, died on Monday, March 5.
He was born in Crump, the son of the late Johnny Whitfield Stewart and Hester Lucille Ganus Stewart. He was united in marriage to Lou Vonda Sowell, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Stewart honorably served his country in the United States Army. Before retiring, he worked in maintenance for ITT in Selmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa “Lisa” Kay Wright of Stantonville; son, Lynn Edward Stewart of Selmer; sisters, Jean Shelton, Mary Stewart, both of Crump, and Roberta Zehm of Roger, Arkansas; brother, Johnny Milo Stewart of Crump; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy and Gilbert Jo Stewart; and sisters, Annie “Kate” Eliff and Jannie Sue Stewart.
Services were held on Thursday, March 8, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Darrell Moffett officiating. Burial followed in West Shiloh Cemetery at Shiloh.
