Four-year-old seriously injured, Adamsville couple charged with child abuse

Aug. 1– An Adamsville couple has been arrested and charged in connection with a suspected case of child abuse that led to a 4-year-old boy being airlifted to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis with severe head trauma.

Kyrie Marie Kyle, 26, has been charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated assault, and Anthony Deon Dilworth, 39, has been charged with child abuse according to McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck.

Buck said the injured child is Dilworth’s son.

“They identified that (the child) did have a severe head injury, and also that there were some indications of maybe some long-term abuse that had been ongoing as far as some bruising, different levels of healing at different stages, different colors and things,” Buck told WMC  Action 5 News  Thursday evening.

“We believe the injuries to the child are a result of an assault at the hands of Ms. Kyle,” Buck told The Courier this afternoon.  “There is no update or change in the condition of the child at this time. He is still on life support, and family is gathering.”

Buck added today that more charges are expected to be added in coming days.
