Body of lost swimmer recovered

UPDATE, July 26– Michael Sherron's body surfaced and was recovered Friday around 6:45 a.m. about two miles downstream of where the victim disappeared.

Hardin County Fire Chief Martin said his remains would be sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, although foul play is not suspected. Sherron was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

July 24– Hardin County Emergency Management Agency officials this morning confirmed a man lost his life while swimming in the Tennessee River near Pickwick Lake yesterday afternoon.

Michael Sherron, 35, of Stantonville, and a friend were swimming near the “rock pile” about two miles below the dam.

Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin said the current pushed both swimmers farther downstream into about 22 feet of water. Sherron’s friend notified emergency personnel of the situation around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
