Feb. 19– A 33-year-old man was airlifted to the Med in Memphis after being shot last night outside his 120 Counce Drive home, Savannah police said.

Police received a call at 9:43 p.m. and upon arrival, the victim, Johnny R. Beard Jr., came limping out of the house with a gunshot to his right thigh.

According to the incident report, the victim’s girlfriend, Vynderlin Nichols, 25, told officers Beard had gone outside to smoke when she heard several shots fired.

Nichols said she then took her 7-year-old daughter and laid down on the bathroom floor.

Police said 15 shots were found going into the house and one in the ground. The rounds were from a .40 caliber firearm and an AK rifle.
