TDOT dump truck driver dies in Adamsville crash

A Wednesday afternoon single-vehicle crash in Adamsville claimed the life of a Tennessee Department of Transportation worker.

Joseph S. Jones, 44, of Jackson, was traveling westbound on U.S. 64 when he lost control of the dump truck he was driving near the intersection of U.S. 64 and Tenn. 22, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Trooper Sam Bryant said Jones lost control of the vehicle and it went down an embankment and struck a tree. Jones was pronounced dead shortly after the 3:45 p.m. incident.

Jones was not wearing a safety belt, Bryant said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
