Vehicle theft report leads to drug arrests
Aug. 31– Both the suspect and the victim in a vehicle theft incident ended up behind bars after a deputy went to the victim’s home, according to Hardin County Sheriff Sammy Davidson.
Whit A. Waynick, 100 Nancy B Drive, Savannah, reported that he and two women went to Dry Creek to ride four-wheelers on Aug. 22. He told a deputy he was riding his daughter on the four-wheeler and came back to where he had parked his GMC Canyon four-wheel drive pickup truck.
The women were in the vehicle talking to some men and Stephanie A. Hubank, 385 Maddox Loop, was behind the wheel.
Waynick said he told Hubank he needed the truck, but she then drove off with the four-wheeler trailer still attached.
Teen dies of crash injuries
Aug. 30– An 18-year-old Savannah man died at The Med on Friday of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Aug. 15.
Kenneth G. Glover, was fatally injured when the 1996 Chevrolet he was driving north on Tenn. 226 struck a 2009 Nissan head-on at 2:50 p.m., according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Germantown Symphony coming to Savannah's Cherry Mansion
Aug. 30– A pleasant autumn breeze, a lovely historic setting and the music played by one of the finest orchestras. All these promise to provide a most pleasant evening, Saturday at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of Cherry Mansion in Savannah.
Cherry Mansion, best known for its role as the headquarters of Gen. U.S. Grant just prior to the historic Battle of Shiloh, will be the background for the 22nd Annual Sunset Symphony hosted by the Savannah Arts Commission.
Conducting the Germantown Symphony Orchestra will be Maestro Ronald Vernon, professor emeritus with the Department of Music at the University of Mississippi.
This year’s program theme is western adventure and will include both classical and contemporary selections by such composers as Strauss, Jr., Debussy, Bigelow and Morrison, Grofe, and Copland.
There will also be popular songs from well known productions including Dances with Wolves and Oklahoma!
