Barbara Southern

Barbara Southern, 79, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, the daughter of the late Coley Nathaniel and Burma Mary Elizabeth Ables Umphrey.
She was united in marriage to Millard Wayne Southern, who preceded his wife in death.
Barbara worked for Tri-Matic Spring Company as a machine operator. She was a member of Turkey Creek Union Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael Southern; sisters, Maebelle McDonald, Ruby McDonald and Cathy Bridges; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Southern; and brothers, Junior Umphrey and Danny Umphrey.
Memorial services were held on Monday, Sept. 23, at Shackelford Funeral Director in Savannah, with Charles Pevahouse officiating. Burial followed at Crossroads Cemetery in Savannah.
