Gene Franks, 79, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, the son of the late Edna and Josie Wilkerson Franks.
Gene graduated from Central High School in 1964. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. After over 40 years of employment, Mr. Franks retired in 2011 from Southern Fabricators in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was a supervisor.
He is survived by his daughters, Angela Mayfield Meza and Rhonda Emerson; sisters, Nannie Faye Gray, Deanna F. Harville, and Patricia Franks Eklund; brother, James Franks; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sisters, Maxell Gray and Bonnie Pinson Hancock.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, Dec. 1, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Kyle Alfrey officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
