Jerry Allen Horton, 80, of Crump, departed this life on Thursday, Jan. 2. He was born on Jan. 19, 1944, the son of the late Edgar Lloyd and Lady Marie Stephens Horton.
Jerry was the former owner of River Heights Restaurant in Crump for over 45 years, a beloved establishment that served as a gathering place for friends and families. He found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, particularly when fishing or indulging in his love for dirt track racing and tractors. As we reflect on a life well-lived, we celebrate the countless moments of joy and connection that Jerry bestowed upon those fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by two daughters, Billie Lupo and Toni Forbes; five grandchildren: Cassie Lupo (Blake Stewart), Jackie O’Steen (Jeremiah), Allen Lupo (Minnie), Stormie Wolverton, and Dusty Wolverton; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cameron, Jaylee, Maddix, Jaden, Kylie, Conan, Hannah, and Kalen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Chloe Horton; a brother, Roger N. Horton and wife Patsy; a son-in-law, Clif Lupo; a great-grandchild, Jordan O’Steen; and his aunt, Lorine Harris.
Memorial Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 5, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, with Michael Gibbs officiating. Burial followed at Mars Hill Cemetery in Leapwood, Tennessee.
