Larry W. McClain Sr., 75, of Savannah, passed away and departed this life on Friday, Sept. 6. He was born on Jan. 18, 1949, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Charlie Wilbur and Alta Mae Smith McClain. On May 6, 2017, he was united in marriage to Diane Walker, who survives. Larry retired from Packaging Corporation of America where he worked in maintenance. He loved riding bicycles, playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Diane McClain; sons, Larry Wilbert McClain Jr. and his wife Teresa, and Rodney Vance McClain; stepson, Donovan Briley and his wife Marita; sister, Lois Hudgens; grandchildren, Laura Beth McClain and Dylan Boyd McClain; stepgrandchildren, Decaleb Briley, Brittany Deshazier and her husband Jason, Christophor Briley and his wife Allie, and Christine Crotts; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon Crotts and Gracie Crotts. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Douglas McClain and Harvey Joe McClain; and sisters, Dorothy Godwin, Mabel Jenning, Robbie Hanback, Wilma Austin and Frankie Young. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Allen Guyer officiating. Burial followed at Graham Cemetery in Savannah.
