Lavelle Cossey White, 93, of Savannah, passed away from this life on Monday, July 15, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on Sept. 3, 1930, to William and Ruth Hodges Cossey.
On Oct. 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold Vernon White, who preceded his wife in death on March 27, 1995.
Lavelle was a lifetime resident of Savannah, Tennessee, and a member of New Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She worked at Brown Shoe and Angelica. Lavelle enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a selfless soul and would always help anyone in need.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mackie Adams; granddaughter, Beth White; five brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Carol) White and Keith White; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Friday, July 19, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Carlos Hughes and Anthony Franks officiating. Burial followed at White’s Creek Cemetery in Savannah.
