With all concrete work on the replacement runway poured, Savannah-Hardin County Airport Manager Derick Seaton provided a birds-eye view of the nearly completed work with his drone.

Seaton said if there are no setbacks such as weather, all major work is expected to be complete by Tuesday, Nov. 17, which is when all contractors will begin removing their heavy construction equipment, a process expected to take about two weeks.

Seaton is hoping to have a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration with various Hardin County officials in attendance on Monday, Nov. 30 to reopen the airport.

As can be seen in the video, the apron in front of the hanger has two strips of concrete that remain to be poured, which will be finished this week. Following that, the concrete has to cure before it can be used.

Also, viewers will note that the runway and landscaping looks a little rough.

Seaton said the main work to be completed after the final concrete pour will be a massive cleanup project, as well as painting and striping on the runway, taxiway and connectors, and some landscaping and lighting work, which will have the airport and runway looking ship-shape.
