Some Savannah Utility Department customers may notice today that their water is discolored or experience minor disruptions in service, the City of Savannah announced.

Starting Tuesday, through Friday, Dec. 22, the Savannah Utility Department will be cleaning and exercising water valves along Wayne Road, Water Street, Florence Road and Pickwick Road.

According to the city, the discolored water is not harmful, but customers should run cold water through a faucet for five minutes, or until the water is clear, before using it to cook, drink, or wash clothes.

If discolored water still persists, report it to the Savannah Utility Department at 731-925-4216. To report issues experienced outside of normal business hours, call 731-925-4930.

Motorists are urged to be on alert for utility crews working in the roadway.
