Hardin County will celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks display, beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, at Pickwick Landing State Park Sandy Beach.

In addition to the annual fireworks show, Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau will be broadcasting live with WKWX starting at 7 p.m. with patriotic music and interviews with special guests.

“We’re excited about continuing our rich Fourth of July tradition and invite all locals and visitors to celebrate with us at Pickwick Landing State Park,” said Beth Pippin, Hardin County tourism director.

According to organizers, fireworks will be shot from Pickwick Landing State Park Sandy Beach near the dam, leaving the lake and surrounding areas as ideal locations for spectators.

“We can’t thank Pickwick Landing State Park enough for their partnership allowing us to put on this wonderful show,” said Pippin.

Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau again this year has contracted with High-Tech Special Effects Inc. to coordinate the fireworks show.

“We try to grow the oohhs and ahhhhs each year,” said Pippin. “This year’s show cost is $15,000 and is looking like a spectacular display.”

In addition to the fireworks show, the Friends of Pickwick Landing State Park will be hosting all day fun around the Inn and circle beach area. Food and craft vendors will be set up as well as ranger-led activities and jump inflatables for the kids.

“Hardin County will be celebrating up and down the river,” said Pippin.

The City of Saltillo has a show planned at the riverbank also on July 4 and Grand Harbor will celebrate on Saturday, July 7.
