The Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Crump hosted a Taser instructor certification program last week.
Officers from Hardin County and Decatur County Sheriff’s departments, and Adamsville, Selmer, Dyersburg and Brentwood police departments participated in the program. Instructor Justin Hartley with AXON conducted the certification.
“Participants completed coursework and testing. The practical day of instruction for certification included tabletop exercises, teaching exercises, drills, plus live fire and scenario-based drills. At the end of training, participants were certified as Taser weapons instructors to teach the use of TASER X26p, X2 and Taser 7,” Hartley said.
TCAT Crump Criminal Justice instructor Tim Foster said, “There are limited certification offerings in West Tennessee, so this was a significant opportunity for local law enforcement personnel. We appreciate forging our relationship with local law enforcement departments and AXON, and we look forward to providing more opportunities in the future.”
AXON, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, manufactures the Taser line of electroshock weapons and provides hands-on training for active duty law enforcement, military and selected security professionals.
