'Hometown Heroes' is the theme

Fun times await at Hardin County Agricultural Fair this week

Have some fun on carnival rides, arena events and more at the Hardin County Agricultural Fair this week.
This year’s theme is “Hometown Heroes,” and the fair has one admission price for access to arena events, exhibits and carnival rides. Food and games are extra.
Hardin County Fair Board President Keith Franks invites everyone to experience all the carnival has to offer this year.
“We encourage everyone to come on out and enjoy the county’s fair. There will be fantastic rides,” he said,” a lot of fun events including the Calvary Rodeo, demolition derby and the USA Pullers Truck and Tractor Pull, games, live music and great exhibits for people of all ages to enjoy.”
He added, “You also don’t want to miss out on all the delicious food offerings you can only find at a great fair like ours. There will be carnival delicacies such as funnel cakes, cotton candy, candy apples, corn dogs and more.”
Another highlight of this year’s fair is the addition of the “Torres Family Circus,” an event to entertain attendees nightly.
The fair got underway Monday night with beauty pageants and Southern Supercross side-by-side racing.
Tuesday, Sept. 17, beauty pageants continue, while special events include a swine show and Southern Supercross junk car jump and run.
Feature events Wednesday include performances by Hardin County High School’s musical group “Wired” and a beef cattle show.
Wednesday is also Senior Citizens Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with special events including a senior beauty pageant, lunch, bingo and more. Seniors will also have the opportunity to enjoy a few carnival rides as well.
Thursday features the Calvary Rodeo with mutton busting, as well as a Lego building contest.
The feature event for Friday, is the USA Pullers Truck and Tractor Pull and there will also be a goat show.
Saturday, is the last chance to have some fun at the county’s fair. Featured events include a morning car and truck show and an evening kids and adult demolition derby. There will also be a pet and dog show and a glamorous goat pageant.
Said Franks, “There’s always so many great events happening at our fair and it’s also great that people can enjoy all the rides and arena events for one price. The fair board also wants to thank all of our sponsors whose support makes Hardin County’s Agricultural Fair one of the best in the state for both residents and guests.”
It all takes place at the Hardin County Fairgrounds, 695 Clifton Road, Savannah.
Gates open Monday through Friday at 5 p.m., with rides starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the gates open at 8:30 a.m., with rides starting at 2 p.m.
