Greta Denice Birk

Greta Denice Birk, 67, passed away on September 20, 2026, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Greta was born on July ll, 1959, in Savannah, Tennessee to Larry and Bernice Bretherick. She graduated from Hardin County High School in 1977. She married Scott Birk on July 16, 1994. She was the homemaker of her family for many years. She was an active member of Savannah First Baptist Church and specifically worked in the nursery. Greta loved to cook, bake, do puzzles, read good books, go on cruises, play board games, and spend time with her family.
Greta is survived by her husband, Scott Birk; her children Wade Austin (Crystal), Kelcey Birk (Danielle), and the late Chris Birk. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her five grandchildren: Alyssa Shankles (Jared), Hannah Austin, Emma Thompson (Zach), Landon Birk, and Annabelle Birk. As well as a great-granddaughter, Ellie Shankles and a great-grandson, Enoch Shankles. She also is survived by her sister, Patricia Tallent (Tommy), nephew, Jon Tallent (Kim) and girls, and niece Elaine Overton (Daniel) and girls.
