Hardin County U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency Executive Director Andy Lewis reminds livestock producers who suffered grazing losses that occurred throughout this year due to drought to report their losses and enroll in the Livestock Forage Disaster Program by Jan. 30, 2023.

The program provides compensation to eligible livestock producers who had grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash leased land, or fire on federally managed land.

Producers in Hardin County are eligible to apply for 2022 program benefits on native and improved pasture.

“Prolonged drought conditions have created a need for livestock assistance programs in Hardin County,” Lewis said. “I encourage all affected livestock producers in Hardin County to contact the Hardin County FSA office to schedule an appointment to enroll in the program before the Jan. 30 deadline.
