Man with 'suspicious' backpack arrested outside Hardin County school

A man with a suspicious backpack was arrested Wednesday shortly before noon outside Parris South Elementary School, an official said.
According to Hardin County Director of Schools Michael Davis, no students were in the playground where the incident occurred and there was no security issue.
He said a teacher noticed someone with a suspicious backpack in the vicinity of a picnic table and reported it to the school resource officer.
Savannah police responded to the SRO’s call for backup and an arrest was made, said Davis, who told The Courier he did not yet know what charge was filed.
