Tennessee residents have to Monday, Oct. 7 to register to vote in the upcoming local, state and federal General Election.
Hardin County Administrator of Elections Kim Melson said registering to vote is simple.
“It has never been easier for eligible Tennesseans to register to vote. If you have not done so already, I encourage you to register to vote and let your voice be heard,” she said.
Eligible citizens can register to vote, update or check their registration status online at GoVoteTN.gov, or by downloading the GoVoteTN App.
“Using a computer, phone, or tablet, citizens with a driver’s license or a photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security can register in a matter of minutes,” Melson said.
Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett is encouraging all those eligible to make sure they can cast their ballots.
“When you don’t vote,” he said, “you turn over the keys of power to those that do vote. In Tennessee, we want every eligible Tennessean to vote, but first, you must register to vote.
“To make your voice heard in the upcoming election, Tennesseans must register or make sure their registration is current before the deadline.”
Voters can also download a paper voter registration application at GoVoteTN.gov and the completed forms must be mailed to their local county election commission office or be submitted in-person.
Mailed voter registration forms must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 7. Election Day registration is not available in Tennessee.
The State and Federal General Election is on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Early voting begins on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and runs through Thursday, Oct. 31.
GoVoteTN.gov also has early voting and other election information. Hardin County residents can contact the local election commission office at 731-925-3375.
A sample ballot is also available online at hardincoelections.com.
