Virgil Brown DeShazier, 68, of Shiloh, passed away and departed this life on Monday, June 17. He was born on July 26, 1955 in Hardin County, Tennessee, to the late Buster Brown DeShazier and Melvina Murphy Babiec.
Virgil worked for Aqua Glass for 20 years and Hagy’s for 6 years. He attended Sand Hill Holiness Church. Virgil loved mowing yards, fishing, working on cars, feeding deer and talking to family. He also made several contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Beckham (Vance) of Savannah, Tennessee; son, Jerry DeShazier (Patti) of Shiloh, Tennessee; sisters, Brenda Keele (Jeff), Joann Rickman, and Cathy Little, all of Savannah, Tennessee; half brothers, Carmack DeShazier, Odie DeShazier, and David DeShazier, all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Corey Austin, Cameron Austin, Kaley DeShazier, Katelyn Doty (Noah), Dustin Johnson, Casey Johnson, Shelby Beckham DeShazier, and Peyton Beckham DeShazier; and great-grandchildren, Chevelle Austin, Cooper DeShazier, Nora Austin, Ryland DeShazier, Parker Doty, and Layna DeShazier.
In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his step father, Richard Babiec; daughter, Windy Wilkerson; sister, Nita DeShazier; and brothers, James DeShazier, Floyd DeShazier, and Bobby DeShazier.
Memorial services were held on Monday, June 24, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Geneva Middleton officiating. Burial followed at Neill Cemetery in Savannah, Tennessee.
