Darce Pirtle

Darce W. Pirtle, 92, of Counce, departed this life on Sunday, April 12, the son of the late Edward Martin and Golden Heath Daniel Pirtle.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Whitfield, who preceded her husband in death.
Mr. Pirtle honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He spent his early years as a farmer in Missouri. He retired in 1993 from Tennessee Valley Authority where he worked in the accounting department. Darce was a woodworker and made handmade swings he sold at the Old Tyme Hardware Store in Counce, Tennessee until 2025. He was also a beekeeper and a good carpenter. Darce was a former member of Iuka Church of Christ and currently attended Savannah Church of Christ.
Darce is survived by his sons, Harold Don Pirtle, Darryl Jon Pirtle, and David Neal Pirtle; sister, Sue Wiles; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Darce was preceded in death by his stepson, Glen William Turner; sister, Irene Pirtle; and brothers, Dutch Pirtle, Rudolph Pirtle, Ray Pirtle, Harvey Daniel, Vernon Daniel, Earl Pirtle, and Junior Pirtle.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 17, 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah.
