David Ray Williams known to many as Grover, 81, of Savannah, departed this life on Sunday, December 14, the son Floyd H. and Eula J. White Williams. David.
A graduate of Central High School, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Prater Williams; daughter, Brandi Williams Broome; two granddaughters, and brothers Jimmy Williams and Donald Williams.
David had a long career in the lumber and paneling business, starting with Williams Lumber Company in Adamsville, Tennessee. He served as Director of Sales at Welsh Forest Products in Memphis, Tennessee; and in 1994, while serving as Executive Vice President at American Pacific Paneling, he was named to the International Who’s Who of Professionals. David formed D&B Sales, a wholesale paneling and plywood company, in 1996 and successfully ran that business for 27 years.
He was a member of the Germantown Church of Christ and the Germantown Youth Athletic Association where he served as vice president and coached youth sports.David continued to coach youth baseball in Savannah, leading two teams to state titles.
Private memorial services were held on Thursday, December 18, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Barry Binion officiating.
