Joe Carroll Franks, 74, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, at his home. Joe was born August 6, 1950, in Savannah, to the late Russell and Lennie Mae Wade Franks. He owned and operated a sawmill for several years where he loved working in timber and logging with mules. He also had a roofing business he operated with his family for some time. After he retired, he went back to work at one of his favorite spots, the Crosseyed Crickett in Clifton. It was here that he met many friends and kept up with the local happenings. Joe loved his family and enjoyed their time together. At the age of 19, Joe met his future wife, Vicki McCasland whom he married on November 1, 1969, and they had over 55 years together. Joe is survived by his wife, Vicki McCasland Franks, of Savannah; daughter, Anissa (Trace) Owen, of Chapmansboro; sons, Jeromy (Brandy) Franks, of Crump and Shane Franks, of Savannah; four brothers, Bennie Franks, of Lutts, Archie Franks, of Lawrenceburg, Wade (Kim) Franks, of Virginia, and Walton (Lois) Franks, of Savannah; six grandchildren, Christopher (Kassidy) Franks, of Savannah; Drew (Andrea) Smart, of Nashville, Kathryn Franks, of Nashville, Cooper Joe Owen, of Chapmansboro, Tanner (Laurie) Owen, of Champmansboro, Nicholas Owen, of Chapmansboro; and three great-grandchildren, Kye McCasland Franks, Teddy and Annabelle June Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by four siblings, O’dell and Larry Franks, Catherine Lowe and Ruth Pickens. Funeral Service were held at Riverview Baptist Church, in Savannah, Tennessee, on Wednesday, April 16, with Allen Guyer officiating. Burial followed at McCasland Cemetery.
