Posted

Joseph Aaron “Double A” Allen, 47, of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 3. He was born on June 12, 1978, in Alton, Illinois. Aaron later moved with his family to Martin, Tennessee, where he grew up active in First Baptist Church and developed lifelong friendships.
A proud Westview Charger, he played football through high school before attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. There, he studied business, joined Pi Kappa Alpha, and was honored by the Martin Police Department for a heroic 2004 rescue. UT Martin is also where he met his soulmate, Wendy.
Aaron and Wendy married in 2007, and built their life together in Charleston, South Carolina. They shared a deep love for animals, rescuing and caring for many over the years. Aaron worked as an industrial electrician, earning multiple certifications and taking great pride in his craft. In his free time, he loved being on the water boating, fishing, and crabbing along the Carolina coast.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Wendy Allen of North Charleston, South Carolina; his parents, Samuel and Harriett Allen of Martin, Tennessee; sisters, Alisha (David) Humm of Godfrey, Illinois, and Ashley Allen of Tega Cay, South Carolina; nephews and niece, Gavin, Aaron Preston, Beau, and Sadie Humm; and grandmother Arline Ahrens. He is also survived by in-laws Tommy J.(Mary) Sharp; Tammy (Joseph) Hicks; Heather (Tim) Shutt; Triston and Dylan Gray; Téa Shutt; and Haley (Isaiah) Lay. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, brother-in-law Michael Sharp, and many beloved pets.
Aaron will be remembered for his humor, warmth, and unmistakable Southern charm. He was the life of every room and a friend to all. We rest in the hope that he is at peace in the arms of Jesus.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Martin, Tennessee on Saturday, November 22.
