Leo Robert Cantrill Jr., 62, formerly of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home in Jackson, Ohio, on Thursday, May 15. He was born on July 3, 1962, the son of the late Leo Sr. and Helen Cantrill.
Leo was united in marriage to Helen Cantrill, who survives.
Leo graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked his way up the corporate ladder and enjoyed traveling the world as part of his career. He chose to retire to the hills of southern Ohio where his late mother and her family were born and raised, surrounded by precious memories and generations of family.
His lifelong passions included UT football, music, storytelling, genealogy, hunting, restoring vintage trucks, riding his Harley, and politics.
Leo was never blessed with biological children but he raised his stepchildren as his own, and he was a mentor to his nieces and nephews, always sharing his vast knowledge and showing his unwavering support.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Helen Cantrill and his faithful English Sheepdog, Sir Graham. Leo is also survived by his siblings, Martin (Michelle) Cantrill, Milton (Nellie) Cantrill, Cheryl (Randy) Shelton, Karen (Mike) Dunson. Nephews, Brandon, Caden, Chase (his protégé); nieces, Sara (Joseph), Bailey, Anna and Hannah; stepchildren, Jesse Braun, Lindsy Schrolocke, Larrisa Lehman; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special cousins, Jimmy, JR, and Don.
A Celebration of Life is being planned by the family.
