Mary Lou Newell, 89, of Adamsville, passed away Sunday, June 1. She was born on September 28, 1935, the daughter of the late Vannie and Louise Spencer. On May 16, 1953, she was married to Bob Newell who preceded her in death on June 8, 2010. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who prayed for her family. She loved to cook and do for people. Her and Bob only had four children, but they had many that they treated and loved as theirs. She was a member of Christian Assembly Pentecostal Church in Adamsville, TN. After her stroke in 2010, she was not able to cook and do things she loved. She missed it very much. She was known for her homemade rolls and cinnamon rolls. She loved Christmas and had decorations in every room in the house. She missed cooking and baking desserts for Christmas, because she thought everyone was supposed to have their favorite dish, candy, or dessert. She is survived by her children, Jerry Newell and wife Diane, Vickie Brewer and husband Randall, Steve Newell and wife Marty, and Kenny Newell and wife Charlene; six grandchildren, Megan Griffin(Shane), Kimberly Plunk, Nathaniel Newell, Nicholas Newell(Taylor), Tiffany Flatt, and Tabitha Henderson(Jason); 10 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Hadley, Kinsley, Coby, Caden, Willow, Sylas, Eliza, Hannah, and Parker; two brothers, Glen Spencer (Ann) and Wayne Spencer (Sylvia); and her sister-in-law, Peggy Spencer. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson; A.J. Flatt, and two brothers, Howard and Leon Spencer. She also had a very special caretaker that took care of her for 10 years, Sharon Burkeen, who she loved very much. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, June 4, at Christian Assembly United Pentecostal Church in Adamsville, Tennessee, with Phillip Johnson and Scott Melson officiating. Burial followed at Pine Hill Memory Gardens in Adamsville, Tennessee.
