Michael Carrol Plunk, 76, of Adamsville, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at his home. Michael was born June 4, 1950, in Hardin County, Tennessee, to the late Aubrey Plunk and Ruby Green Plunk. A lifelong resident of the area, Michael was a member of Christian Assembly. Michael proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1971. He also gave back to his community through his service as a volunteer firefighter and was always willing to help when someone needed a hand. Michael enjoyed going to the mountains and especially enjoyed helping his son, Chris, with projects. He loved joking and cutting up with people and could usually find a way to bring a little laughter into the room. Music was also a special part of Michael’s life. He sang with the Happy Heirs Quartet, sharing his love of gospel music with others. He had a lifelong interest in law enforcement and often said that his one regret in life was never becoming a Tennessee State Trooper. Michael is survived by his son, Chris Plunk and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Sophie and Ty; brother, Jerry Plunk and wife Betty; and sisters, Sandra Curlin and husband Larry, and Linda Rinks. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Guinn Plunk; brothers, Bill Plunk, Joe Don Plunk, and Dink Plunk; and sister, Dorothy Lawson.
