Milton “Ben” Turner, 82, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. The family will have a private visitation and burial in East View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Turner, Wallace Ward, and Kevin Tapp. Rob Turner will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Ben was born in Memphis, on October 4, 1943 to the late George Zopher Turner and the late Addie Mae Hauer Turner. He married Mrs. Tena Riley Turner on November 7, 1964. She survives. Upon graduating high school, he joined the Army where he served for three years. Ben was a natural born teacher. He absolutely loved to read and learn, and loved to educate others. After serving in the military, he decided that he wanted to become a teacher. He taught for over 40 years, with 14 of those years being at the prison in Clifton, Tennessee. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed various types of music, reciting poetry, educating others, and spending time with family. In addition to his wife, Tena Turner, Ben is survived by two sons, Mark Turner of Eads, TN, and Rob Turner of Olive Branch, MS; two daughters, Bonnie Tapp (Kevin) of Olive Branch, MS, and Julie Ward (Wallace) of Union City, TN; two grandchildren, Andrew and Alex Ward; one great-grandchild, Mckenzie Tapp; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Z. Turner II and Arthur N. Turner; one sister, Nina Turner Lester; and three nephews, Jack, Lloyd, and Glen Lester.
