Paula Dwanda Porter, 62, of Savannah, passed away on Thursday, November 13, the daughter of the late Edna Margaret and Willie Lee Steele.
During her school years, she was a cheerleader and sang in the school chorus. She later worked at Angelica Manufacturing and Cross Country Manufacturing.
Paula was a devoted member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelby Lusk and Timia Porter; three grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Ellens, Melvin Siner Sr., Johnny Goodlow, Joyce Cherry, Paul Porter, Renata Casundra Porter, Priscilla Whitehurst, and Margaret Steele.
Above all, Paula was a devoted mother to her daughters, Shelby Lusk and Timia Porter, and a proud grandmother to Jayla Patterson, Jayden Lusk, and Jonathan Sims, Jr. Her family was her greatest joy, and she embraced every opportunity to nurture, support, and love them.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Brenda Lee Steele and Patricia Irvin; and her brother, Roy Gene Dixon.
Memorial Services were held on Saturday, November 22, at Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee, with Cleophas Cherry officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
