Richard Matthew Pitts, 62, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, the son of Jerry Pitts and Jane Earl Pitts.
Richard was a children’s Bible teacher for 35 years in Tennessee and Georgia, held multiple church administrative roles, and was a leader and treasurer for the Boy Scouts of America for 12 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Pitts; his grandmother, Deltrice Marshall; and his great-great-grandparents, John Lee and Nell Spencer Jerrolds.
Richard is survived by his wife LaDonna Pitts; mother, Jane Earl Pitts; children, Amanda and Logan Hunter, Emily Pitts, Matt Hall and Spencer Pitts; sister, Deborah Russell; and half-sister, Sherry Franks.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 3, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah. A graveside service followed at Jerrolds Family Cemetery in Savannah, Tennessee.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2 p.m., at Norcross First Global Methodist Church, 2500 Beaver Ruin Road, Norcross, Georgia.
