Russell Lanell Tate,77, of Savannah, departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital., the son of the late Louie Tate Sr. and Maggie Turnipseed Tate.
He was educated in the Hardin County School System and attended the historic Dunbar High School and Central High School, graduating in 1966.
Russell dedicated many years of service in janitorial work at Savannah Nursing & Rehabilitation, retiring in 2010.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his brother, Abraham Lincoln Tate; his sister, Linda Tate Burns; one adopted brother, Rev. Grady Nixon; and his god-brother, Luster Hubbard.
He leaves to cherish his memory his youngest brother, Louie Tate Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Harold Burns.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at Memory Gardens in Savannah, with Gallian Fulton officiating.
