Sandra Gale Boling Jones, lovingly know as Gale, 88, of Alabaster, Alabama, formerly of Counce, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19. She was born on July 31, 1936, in Morris Chapel, Tennessee, to Ovid and Mildred Boling. Gale carried a deep love for family, faith, and joyful gatherings throughout her life.
A devoted mother, Gale raised two sons, Jeffrey Alan and Brian Keith, whom she cherished with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her brother, Frank; her former husband, Don; and her son Jeff - each a chapter in the story of a life filled with love and resilience.
Gale was a dedicated educator, shaping the hearts and minds of countless 5th-grade students during her career. Teaching was not just a profession but a calling, and she left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of learning from her.
A long-time active member of First Baptist Church of Counce, Tennessee, Gale poured her spirit into her church community until moving to Birmingham, Alabama, in 2020. She loved singing in the choir and faithfully taught the ladies’ Sunday school class for many years-roles that reflected her deep joy in sharing her faith and lifting others up through music, wisdom, and fellowship. Her faith was quiet yet unwavering, expressed in her deep kindness, encouragement of others, and the handwritten notes and letters she so lovingly shared. For Gale, no birthday or holiday was complete without a thoughtful message-always sincere, always from the heart.
She had a particular fondness for the Fourth of July, which she celebrated with enthusiasm and joy. Her ideal holiday included a good picnic, BBQ, watermelon, and of course a spectacular fireworks display. Family gatherings were her greatest delight, and it brings comfort to imagine her now joyfully organizing a heavenly reunion with those who went before her.
Gale will be sorely missed by her son, Brian; and daughter-in-law, Beth (Duke); her beloved three grandsons, Vaughn Alan, Cory Keith, and Andrew Leiland; and her treasured five great-grandsons, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Gale’s legacy lives on in those she loved, taught, and inspired. She will be remembered for her compassion, her generous spirit, and the warmth she brought into every room.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, May 25, at First Baptist Church in Counce, Tennessee, with Rev. Jimmie McChristial officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah, Tennessee.
