Savannah hosting Treat Street on Oct. 31

Savannah’s popular Treat Street Halloween event returns Tuesday.

The Seventh Annual Treat Street is a free event is sponsored by the City of Savannah and Savannah’s Main Street program, as well as local businesses and organizations that registered as vendors.

“We are encouraging families to dress up and come to the park for a safe trick-or-treating experience this Halloween,” said Savannah Main Street Director Stephanie Timbes.

She added, “The community’s response to Treat Street has been great every year. In fact, I start to get multiple calls and emails from people wanting to know when the event will be as soon as the end of August rolls around. We estimate that 1,000 or more kids come out to enjoy our annual Treat Street event.”

Treat Street takes place at Tennessee Street Park, 200 Tennessee St., on Halloween, Oct. 31, starting at 6 p.m.

“We will be closing the park at 2 p.m. so vendors can set up their tables or booths. Closing the park early also makes it fair to all the trick-or-treaters who will line up to collect candy and other goodies. The vendors will be along the park’s walking trail, so once the gates open, we ask that everybody walks around the path starting at the far side and making the loop to finish their trick or treating at the front gate to exit the park,” Timbes explained.

There will be approximately 30 vendors at Treat Street this year.

“This is the second year that we will also have a contest for the best-decorated booth. I have already heard from vendors who are really excited about the contest and some do seem to be on a competitive side,” Timbes said.

The best-decorated booth will win a trophy and bragging rights, and organizers are looking forward to seeing the designs its vendors have created.

“The City of Savannah wants everyone to have a safe and happy Halloween. Make sure to come out and see us at Treat Street,” Timbes said.
