Vernice Franks, 67, was born November 18, 1958, in Missouri. She passed away peacefully at her home in Booneville, Mississippi, on Saturday, September 5, 2026. She had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 14, 2026. Vernice was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and found great joy in spending time with her family. She enjoyed going to the beach, cooking, and making memories with the people she loved. Vernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Joe Franks; granddaughter Kylie Jo Young, her brother Marvin Shepherd; and sister Adele Napper and parents Mary Alline and Vernon Shepherd of Florida. She leaves behind four daughters: Joanie Daniel of Collinwood, Tennessee; Candie Franks of Clare, Michigan; Amanda and Ryan Young of Booneville, Mississippi; and Amber Franks of Collinwood, Tennessee. Vernice is survived by her grandchildren, David Bonelli, Tyler Mayes, Kaitlyn Mayes, Hunter Caperton, Jayden Daniel, Bentley Pulley, and Emily Franks, and her two great-grandchildren, Rowan Mayes and Marlee Daniel. She is also survived by her brother, Danny Shepherd, and sisters Janice Pannell and Joann Bingham along with many other family members and loved ones who will miss her dearly. Vernice’s greatest joy was her family. Her love, warmth, laughter, and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family will remain forever. Services were held on Sunday, September 13, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, Tennessee, with Mark Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Germany Branch Cemetery at Savannah, Tennessee.
