Wayne Allen Hendon, 90, of Memphis, Tennessee, departed this life on Sunday, May 3, the son of the late Clemmon and Bertha Hendon.
He was united in marriage to Johnnie Kate Briley, who survives.
Wayne retired as a GS-12, a “Bird-Colonel”, from the Air Force and the Memphis Defense Depot after 28 years of service for his country.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 71 years, Johnnie Kate Briley Hendon; sons, Steve Hendon and Phillip Hendon, daughters, Connie LaKatos and Teresa Ferraris; brother, Drexel Hendon; sister, Faye Kirkman; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Oather Hendon; and sister, Joann Brewer.
Memorial services were held on Friday, May 8, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Scott Whitley officiating. Burial followed at Wesley’s Chapel Church Cemetery in Savannah, Tennessee.
