Archie Lee “Ted” Smith was born in Hardin County  on Oct. 19, 1933, the son of the late John C. and Belle Hunt Smith.
On June 18, 1952, he was united in marriage to Martha Sue Stricklin, who survives.
Mr. Smith retired from Parris Manufacturing and he also farmed and worked for Hassell’s Lumber Company. Mr. Smith was a life long member of the Walkertown community and he was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He loved to garden and drive his tractor, but most of all he loved his wife of 61 years and his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his entire family.
Mr. Smith departed this life on Saturday, July 13, in Savannah, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 24 days.
In addition to his wife Martha Sue of Savannah, he is survived by his children, Deborah Wright and her husband Terry of Savannah, Eddie Smith and his wife Kimberly of Stantonville,  Steve Smith and his wife Janet of Savannah, and Jimmy Smith and his wife Jonie of Savannah; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Smith, Tori Thomas, Alan Brown, Charley Brown, Matt Brown, Derek Smith, Dustin Smith and Conway Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Chris Brown, Mckinley Smith, John Smith, Jacob Smith, Lily Brown, Cruz Thomas, Colt Thomas, Tahara Thomas, Halo McDuff and Darius Rinier; two stepgrandchildren, Matt Ferguson and Chris Wright; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kaylee Ferguson and Jordan Wright; two sisters, Robbie Frazier and Emma Todd both of Savannah; one brother, Carl Smith of Milan, Tenn. Mr. Smith also leaves a lot of nieces, nephews and other family members and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four sisters,  Mary Frances Smith, Jeffie Belle Scott, Grace Crotts and Sue Pipes; two brothers, J.C. Smith and David Smith, and also preceded in death by two infant brothers.
Services were held on Tuesday, July 16, at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah with Paul David Scott and Randy Isbell officiating. Burial followed in the Graham Cemetery at Savannah.
