Artie Laverle Kemp

Artie Laverle Kemp was born Aug. 17, 1929, in Morris Chapel, the daughter of the late Aubrey Carl and Artie Crowell Plunk.

She grew up in the area and graduated from Morris Chapel High School in 1948.

On Sept. 11, 1948, she married Billy Larry Kemp. Mr. Kemp preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2009.

She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at McNairy County General Hospital. She lived most of her adult life in Adamsville and was a member of Faith Pointe Church.

Mrs. Kemp departed this life on Monday, Jan. 3, in Adamsville, at the age of 81 years, 4 months, 17 days.

She is survived by a son, Phillip Kemp and wife Mary Ann of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Amanda Petzak and husband Tom of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Jonathan Kemp and wife Angie of Fayetteville, Tenn.; a sister, Carlene Kennedy of Franklin, Tenn.; two nieces and one nephew; a host of extended family and friends. She also leaves behind her faithful companion Rusty.

Services were held on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2:30 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Bill Luther, Rob Yanok officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Memorial Garden at Adamsville.
