Barbara Earl Cromwell Armstrong was born Sept. 20, 1938, the daughter of Earl C. Cromwell and Sally Dee Rich Cromwell. On Dec. 22, 1955, she was married to Sam Armstrong Jr., who preceded her in death on May 9, 2013.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Armstrong Bevis and husband Charles Bevis, a son, Dr. Lane Armstrong and wife Sonja, three grandsons, Dr. Casey Bevis and wife Holly Bevis, Samuel Henry Armstrong VI and Bain Trousdale; a  great-granddaughter, Avery Alexander Bevis; a sister, Jane Phillips and a niece, Jan Phillips Morton and husband Jerry, and many extended family members.

She was deputy trustee of Hardin County for 24 years and previously worked for Paul Davis Contracting Company and Armstrong-Williams Lumber Company. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, boating, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Sally Cromwell, grandparents, Charlie and Daisy Spencer Cromwell and Poney C. and Oma Mae Neill Rich, a brother in-law, Lloyd Phillips and a niece, Kimberly Gay Phillips.
Services were held Wednesday, April 9, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Helen Hamilton and Artie Rivers officiating. Burial followed at Savannah Cemetery in Savannah.
