Berdie Marie Franks was born in Lutts, Tenn., on Sept. 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Ed and Nann Benson Brown.
On April 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to James Ray Franks, who preceded his wife in death on Nov. 16, 2001.
Mrs. Franks worked for C&M Cleaners. She was of Pentecostal belief.
Mrs. Franks departed this life on Friday, July 25, in Savannah, at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 27 days.
She is survived by her children, Cecil Franks of Columbia, Tenn., Edie Hughes, Jerry Franks, Troy Franks and Tammy Franks, all of Savannah; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, three step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rachel Stricklin; two sons, E.J. Franks and Bobby Franks, one grandchild, Marty Stricklin, one brother and four sisters.
Services were held on Monday, July 28, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Bobby Pickens and Josh Franks officiating. Burial followed in the Wilkerson Cemetery at Hardin County.
