Bernie Collins (1-26-10) services 1-31-10

Bernie James Collins of Iron City, Tenn. departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at his residence at the age of 66 years, 8 months, 19 days. He was born May 7, 1943, in Waynesboro, Tenn. the son of the late John Armstrong and Louiza Attkisson Collins.

Mr. Collins was a carpenter, a member of the American Legion and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by, sons, David Collins and wife, Sandra of Savannah, Richard L. Collins and wife, Jolene of Port Deposit, Md., Keith Collins of Raceland, La., John Collins of Florence, Ala.; daughter, Michelle A. Staggs of Cypress Inn, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Sammy Collins of Cross Plains, Tenn.; sisters, Linda Knoch of Harrah, Okla. and Beatrice Johnson of Florence, Ala.; nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Collinwood, Tenn., with Josh Stults officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Railroad Cemetery at Iron City, Tenn. with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing.
