Billy Copeland

Billy Floyd Copeland was born in Hardin County, Tenn., on Oct. 23, 1940, the son of the late Cecil Harbet and Mamie Beatie Clement Copeland.

Billy was an auto mechanic, and specialized in air conditioning. Billy had worked for P&C Texaco, Master Muffler, 64 Gulf Station, Jones Motor Company and C&C Automotive. He was a member of Spoken Word Ministries in Savannah. Billy was a Christian man. He loved to play bluegrass gospel with various gospel groups around Hardin County. He also loved to sponsor Christian Broadcast on Channel 18. Billy loved to cook, fish and read his Bible, but most of all Billy loved God, his children and grandchildren.

He departed this life on Friday, Nov. 30, in Savannah at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 7 days.

Billy is survived by his children, Ronald A. Copeland, Billy (Jody) Copeland and his wife Pam, Sherry Copeland Tigner, Lisa Copeland Franks and her husband Shane, and Patricia Copeland Crotts and her husband Shane, all of Savannah; 12 grandchildren, Johnathon Willoughby, Tabitha Copeland, Janean Copeland Stokes, Ashley Copeland Barnes, Dustin Mitchell, Jennifer Mitchell, Tristian Tigner, April Crotts, B. J. Copeland, Caleb Crotts, Lucas Crotts and Courtney Greenwood Todd; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Harbet Gene Copeland. Billy is also survived by his former wife, Betty Wilkerson Copeland.

In addition to his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Copeland Davis and Barbara Copeland Rose; two brothers, Douglas and Kenneth Copeland; and one great-grandchild, Brenley Jade Ostrum.

Services were held on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with J. P. Gillis officiating. Burial followed in the Mount Hermon Cemetery at Hardin County.
