Charles Brooks Jr. (3-9-19)

Charles William Brooks Jr., 78, of Savannah, died on Saturday, March 9.

He was born in Waycross, Georgia, the son of the late Charles William Brooks Sr. and Onnie Juanita Mincey Brooks. He was united in marriage to Bertha Mae Franks, who survives.

Mr. Brooks was self-employed as an upholsterer. He was a member of Savannah Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Mae Stricklin Brooks of Savannah; daughters, Melanie Richards, Cynthia Ziegler and Anna Brooks, all of Michigan; stepdaughter, Rita Jackson of Linden, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Brooks, Judy Edwards and Elaine Brown, all of Savannah; and brother, Gary Brooks of Savannah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Cross.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
