Cora Barrier

Cora Louise Strange Barrier, 82, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, in Savannah.

She was born in Madison County, Ala., the daughter of the late Erskine and Mary Naomi Holcombe Strange. She was united in marriage to George Henry Barrier, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Barrier was a member of the White’s Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 27, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Vance Hutton officiating. Burial was in the Williams Chapel Cemetery at Lauderdale County, Ala.

She is survived by three sons, Keith George and Danny Wade Barrier, both of Savannah, and Mark Jacob Barrier of Laceys Spring, Ala.; a daughter, Nita Naomi Parson of Corinth, Miss; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; four brothers, David Strange of Florence, Ala., James and Oliver Strange, both of South Bend, Ind., Paul Strange of Tuscumbia, Ala.; three sisters, Carrien Hutton of Waterloo, Ala., Rena Meintzer of Harrisburg, W.Va. and Frances Young of Florence, Ala.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Hisey; and a stepbrother, William Vandegrift.
