David Lee Delaney, of Saltillo, departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the age of 71 years and 11 months.

He was born in Hardin County on Feb. 27, 1947, the son of the late Delmar Jackson Delaney and Allie Lucille Thompson Shackelford.

David served honorably in the United Stated Army. He was the owner and operator of Tool Masters and a member of Saltillo First Baptist Church. Playing guitar, fishing, grilling out for family and friends, and even mechanic work were just some of the things David enjoyed.

He is survived by his children, Amy Maness and her companion Gary Roach of Decaturville, Tennessee, Jodie Smith and her husband Keith, and Jonathan Delaney and his wife Shellie, all of Saltillo; grandchildren, Chase Smith, Toni Smith, Alana Maness, Wade Maness, and Wyattleigh Delaney; sister, Betty Jean Holland of Knoxville; brothers, Jimmy Delaney and his wife Shirley of Saltillo and Robert Delaney of Scotts Hill; and mother of his children, Betty Kimbrell of Saltillo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Burl Shackelford.

Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m., at Saltillo First Baptist Church in Saltillo with Skippy Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery of Saltillo.
