Dorothy Mae Cherry Dorothey Mae Cherry, 97, of Savannah, died Monday, March 28, at her home. She was born in Savannah, the third child to Pate and Mary Hopson. She was united in marriage to Monroe A. Cherry, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Cherry retired from Hardin County General Hospital on March 27, 1976. She was a member of Saint Mark Baptist Church. Services were held on Saturday, April 2, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Rev. Gallian Fulton, Prentis Burdine officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah. She is survived by two daughters, Fannie B. Cherry of Savannah and Mary C. Steele of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; She was also preceded in death by both parents; three children, Peggy Mariah, Forrest Eugene and Monroe Ellis Cherry; two brothers Ellis and James Hopson.
