Dorothy Newman (9-23-18) service 9-28-18

Dorothy Marie Flatt Newman, 88, of Savannah, died on Sunday, Sept. 23.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late John Henry and Josie Stratton Flatt. She was united in marriage to Burl Leon Newman, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Newman had worked for Harwood Manufacturing as a seamstress. She was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Gary Newman of Tiller, Oregon; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandchild; brothers, Marvin Flatt and John H. Flatt; and sisters, Thelda Carothers and Mildred Moore.

Services were held on Friday, Sept. 28, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Gene Hanna officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery at Adamsville.
